So the tree is up. Both my sons requested that the tree went up today. So my husband set the tree up this morning (we have a pre-light fake tree as I don’t need anything else to clean up in my house) and we started decorating it this afternoon.
My autistic son helped. He found a pair of reindeer ears and wore them all afternoon. He would come and place a few ornaments on the tree and then would retreat upstairs to his Christmas-free space. Then he would come back down again and add a few more ornaments. We may add a few more decorations over the next week or so but we will see how he copes with the changes around the house. We will also see how many decorations our dog manages to chew!
