Drinking water

One of my goals this year was to increase the amount of water that I drink. I’m finding this goal hard. One of the reasons is because is it so cold where I live, that I don’t want to drink something that is also cold, so instead I opt for tea.

Therefore, I’m starting this goal again and this week I’m looking at hot/warm water options:

  • Fresh ginger water; warming, spicy ginger water has a long history of use for stomach ache and nausea. To make it fresh, grate or slice a small piece of peeled ginger root. Pour boiled water over it and leave it to brew for around 10 minutes.
  • Fresh mint water; mint water is a great palate cleanser and has traditionally been used to aid digestion. Wash and tear up a handful of mint leaves, add to a small teapot and top up with boiling water.
  • Fresh lemon water; squeeze fresh lemon juice into a mug, add an extra slice of lemon, and top up with boiling water. Try to have lemon water with a meal as the acids in lemon juice can be damaging to teeth.

I will be trying these this week and seeing if they help me to increase my water intake!
