Discovering me under all the titles I have

Titles I have; Mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, cook, chauffeur, cleaner, gardener, delivery person, cheerleader, nurse, counselor, teacher, party planner, blogger, engineer, master lego builder, shopper and the list goes on.

But what am I? How am I? What is my role in life? What do I want?

As a woman I find that we often put everyone before ourselves. As a mother I would say this is even more true. I’m in my 10th year of motherhood and I decided its time to find me again. I started looking at all the things I like to do

  1. Crafts and making things.
  2. DIY (But with no time frame around completing a project).
  3. Growing things (I really enjoyed growing seedlings and vegetables this year).
  4. Reading or Audible books.
  5. Walking.

My list definitely looks different from it did 10 or so years ago but thats ok. I’m not trying to find the me before children; I’m looking for the ‘older-newer’ version of me now. The one that is excited to go to bed before 9pm and looks forward to accomplishing my day’s goals before 10am. Any mother’s life is hard, and at times thankless, so it’s important to remember to take find time, even if that is just 10 minutes to do something just for me.

Even just 10 minutes makes me a better person to live with, a better mother, wife and friend, as it reminds me that I’m just as important in my life as everyone else and that I need my time.

So now I see my titles as Christmas card maker, gardener (Because I like it), weekly walker and romantic novel reader. It important to remember that I have to fill my bucket before I can fill other people’s, and if my bucket is empty, everyone loses out.
